Rolling techniques have been widely used in production of metallic sheets and foils. In the world, more than 70% metal products are processed by rolling. In this article, we introduce the main rolling techniques such as rough rolling, hot rolling, finish rolling, cold rolling, as well as variable gauge rolling, which are used to produce metallic foils and sheets. And the main theories related to rolling are introduced, which include rolling pressure, minimum achievable thickness, deformation behavior, strain distribution, stress distribution, thermal field, and strip edge drop. The main factors on product service life are also introduced such as microstructure evolution, inclusions, cracks, mechanical properties, superplasticity and springback. Finally, the applications of metallic strips and foils in automobile manufacturing, aircraft manufacturing, shipping buildings, bridge buildings, as well as some home appliances are introduced.
