A fundamental study on the structural effects of CNTs, when used as supports for Ru nanoparticles, and on the localization of Ru nanoparticles, on ammonia decomposition is reported. The observed trend is counter-intuitive to the general notion about the beneficial effect of a reduced particle size for better activity in a nonselective reaction.
