Research on two kinds methods of indwelling catheter to carry on the TPN treatment

OBJECTIVE To compare two different indwelling catheter methods for treatment of parenteral nutrition.METHODS From January 2009 to November 2011,selected patients more than 7 days in the hospital treated by TPN in our hospital,and the central vein and peripheral vein in good condition in 89 patients,were randomly divided into two groups randomly,A group with PICC catheter,another group with CVC catheter,compared catheter-related infection,catheter,the inner wall of the catheter for 10 days after nutritional support,catheter indwelling time,the one-time success rate of intubation and the catheter maintenance costs of whole treatment process in two groups.RESULTS Heat,amino acid,glutamine uptake and one-time success rate of intubation had no differences.The incidences of catheter-related infection,catheter maintenance costs,the inner wall of the catheter for 10 days after nutritional support in PICC catheterization group were lower than CVC tube group,but in PICC cathetergroup,defluxion cases were more than CVC tube group.CONCLUSION The preferred PICC catheter is ideal for patients who need long-term parenteral nutrition therapy.
