摘要
NdF3 is an excellent efficient material for infrared fluorescence and solid-state lasers. Herein, we describe the formation processes and a possible formation mechanism for single crystal NdF3 nanoplates with cavities via a simple hydrothermal method. Enhanced infrared fluorescence and decreased upconversion emissions were observed from the NdF3 nanoplates with cavities, which were attributed to the porous structure, and surface defects availed nonradioactive relaxation of the Nd3+. These single-crystalline NdF3 nanoplates with cavities will provide new perspectives and opportunities in fascinating light phosphor powders and advanced devices.
