摘要
A laboratory experiment has been developed for the Advanced Inorganic Chemistry laboratory involving the synthesis and characterization of air-stable organometallic platinum(II) cyclometallated complexes. Using one-dimensional 195Pt, 31P, and 1H NMR data, students are able to assign isomeric composition and identify the nature of the product isomers obtained. This experiment introduces students to heteronuclear coupling effects, nonroutine NMR nuclei, and the complexity of NMR spectra introduced by nuclei whose isotopic abundance is neither very high (1H) or very low (13C).
