摘要
This paper describes the numerous aspects of the hardfacing of iron-based alloys. A systematic review has been conducted to explore the effect of various alloying elements, including boron, carbon, chromium, manganese, molybdenum, niobium, rare earths, silicon, titanium, and vanadium, on the performance of wear resistance coatings of iron-based alloys. The insights and findings presented within this article would be beneficial for the academicians and industry-oriented researchers engaged in the development of wear resistant surface coatings of iron-based alloys. Additionally, the findings can serve as a valuable resource in guiding the selection of the optimal alloying elements and their precise proportions to achieve the desired material properties and develop high wear resistant alloys. A summary and a glimpse into the future are provided at the conclusion to offer insights into the current advancements and considerations for future endeavors to develop high wear resistant surfaces.
