This study revealed that insulin resistance levels were predictive of metabolic improvement and weight loss one year post metabolic surgery (MS) in Chinese patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, exhibiting a BMI range of 25-32.5 kg/m. We wish to provide some observations on the present status of this procedure in Latin American nations, with a specific focus on Colombia.
