Durability of HDPE geomembranes

This paper summarizes the basic concepts and mechanisms related to the durability of HDPE geomembranes and discusses the factors influencing the service life of geomembrane liners. Geomembrane durability is addressed in terms of field performance and laboratory test results under various conditions. It discusses their projected service lives that may range from many centuries to less than a decade depending on the type of material and exposure conditions.
