Filtration

This chapter covers the downstream operation – filtration. This chapter discuss key variables that affect the filtration design and performance. These variables include particle size of desired compound, filer media, filtration resistance from compressible/incompressible cake, selection of wash solvents/temperature, wash protocol of displacement/slurry wash, and type of filter such as agitated filter dryer or centrifuge filter. Complications such as breakthrough and filter binding is also discussed.
