摘要
This chapter introduces semiconductor products, the development history of the industry, and clean rooms. The semiconductor industry originated in Silicon Valley. In 1965, Gordon Moore published an article in which he described that the number of devices contained in an integrated circuit would double every year. Until now, the semiconductor industry still follows the predictions of Moore's Law. The law also guides long-term planning in this field and the setting of R&R projects. The chapter looks at the real chips, which are planar two-dimensional structures. It makes the production of transistors and integrated circuits simple. This manufacturing technology is a planar process (technology). In the process of making ICs, planar technology is first used to make individual devices, such as transistors and diodes, on a silicon wafer.
