Takayasu Arteritis

A 50-year-old man presented for a second opinion regarding management of a recently diagnosed ascending aorta aneurysm. He had history of cutaneous psoriasis, gout, and recurrent sinus infections. He had no complaints, and physical examination was unremarkable. He was recently treated for an acute episode of sinusitis with a 10-day course of prednisone and doxycycline. His C-reactive protein level decreased from 120 mg/dL to 31 mg/dL (normal: ≤8.0 mg/L) but did not fully normalize after treatment.
