Progress on the pathogenesis of retinopathy of prematurity

Retinopathy of prematurity(ROP)is a kind of eye disease associated with the premature infant.It is characterized by retinal vascular dysplasia, which can cause retinal detachment and blindness.It is the main reason of children with visual impairment and blindness.ROP is a complex disease, associated with oxygen therapy, low gestational age, low birth weight, cytokines and other factors.At present, erythropoietin and infection can also affect the occurrence of ROP.According to the pathogenesis, early detection and early treatment have become more important.This review summarizes the research progresses of pathogenesis in ROP.
