Abstract Vygotsky's (1926/2004) monograph The Historical Meaning of the Crisis in Psychology is his foundational work in which he lays out the theoretical basis of his theory of culturally mediated mind, which is eventually expanded into his much better known publication Thinking and Speech (Vygotsky, 1987).
