Si/SiC Ceramic Composites: Properties and Applications

Structure-property relations in Silcomp* silicon/silicon carbide composite material are reviewed. Prototype hardware made for gas turbine combustors and automobile vanes is discussed. New physical property data are presented and new interpretations of Silcomp behavior are included.
