摘要
In the recent past, the targeted drug delivery has gained more attention for various advantages. Amongst the plethora of avenues explored for targeted drug delivery, magnetic nanoparticles backed foremost attention offering local drug delivery, reduced side effects and controlled drug release for prolonged period of time addressing problems of healthy tissue damage, drug wastage. An approach was made herein to review the history of magnetic guidance, concept of magnetic nanoparticles, their advantages, methods of preparation, characterization, applications explored in various fields of drug delivery. This review also deals up with the disadvantages of magnetic nanoparticles, the alternative way to overcome. It also focuses on exemplifying different drug formulations formulated into magnetic nanoparticles.Future prospectives, challenges faced in drug delivery and scope of magnetic nanoparticles have also been addressed.
