摘要
The major advance in stroke research in 2023 was the realisation that intracerebral haemorrhage is a treatable condition, shown by the results of three pivotal clinical trials. This work has defined a paradigm shift for the reconfiguration of stroke services to optimise outcomes for patients with this serious condition. Improving neurological services in and out of AfricaIn keeping with a tradition that started two decades ago, this January 2024 issue of The Lancet Neurology includes a Round-up section highlighting some of the best neurological research from 2023. The translation of these advances into the clinic has the potential to improve patients' lives, although in the near future probably just in high-income countries. Owing to the scarcity of neurological workforce, services are scant in poor and rural regions. The most challenging settings are in Africa, where training for brain-health professionals and new migration partnerships are urgently needed. Full-Text PDF
