摘要
Abstract Clean and well-defined surfaces of platinum single crystals were created to investigate the aspects of hydrogen adsorption in an acid solution by using the voltammogram technique. It is suggested that the observed differences in the voltammogram patterns are due to the variations of interaction between the adsorbate and the 5dγ holes in the platinum atom at the adsorbing site. The degree of isolation of the Pt atom seems to reflect on the number of such holes which determines the strength of its binding with the hydrogen adsorbate.
