摘要
Single-cell analysis is the study of one cell's metabolomics, genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics. The understanding of such information highly affects the explanation of molecular pathways and mechanisms within a single cell and cellular communications. Electrochemical techniques are proven to be highly efficient in such studies due to their strong and vast amount of information that can be acquired from an oxidation reduction reaction of a species, on its kinetics and dynamics of interaction. Combinations of electrochemical single-cell analysis have greatly helped fields such as neuroscience, effective drug development, and advanced tissue engineering. In many cases, such as lab-on-chip devices, it also gives the opportunity of automatization and multiplexing of analysis for target investigations. This chapter will primarily give information on the basics of single-cell analysis and electrochemical techniques, followed by a variety of technologies used to date for device fabrication and clinical applications employing electrochemical single-cell analysis.
