AN XPS/X-RAY PHOTO-ELECTRON SPECTROSCOPY/STUDY OF THE CORROSION OF CU-10 NI ALLOY IN UNPOLLUTED AND POLLUTED SEA-WATER; THE EFFECT OF FESO4 ADDITION

The corrosion behaviour and the composition of surface - 1ms formed on Cu-10 Ni alloy in unpolluted and polluted sea-water have been investigated by XPS. The addition of ferrous sulphate to unpolluted sea-water led to a decrease in the corrosion rate, while the addition of sodium sulphide enhanced the corrosion.
