I have been in the role of Editor-in-Chief for a full year now and the look and feel of reading and working with Anesthesiology has been overhauled. I hope that readers and authors alike have noticed some of those changes. We have simplified the submission process, accelerated the turnaround time, and seen a remarkable increase in new article submissions. We have added tools to help authors by simplifying their workflow. IMPACT, a new online proofing tool for authors, has replaced the clunky PDF editing process; this speeds the proofing process and minimizes errors by allowing authors to make corrections directly in their article proofs. We have also added access to Paperpal Preflight in the article submission portal, a web-based machine learning tool that helps authors meet the technical requirements of the Journal and improves language use in their manuscripts.
