Abstract The desired derivatives of bufotalin (III), i.e. the 16α‐epimer (IIa) of 16‐deacetylcinobufagin and the 14α‐epimer (VI) of bufatolin acetate, are synthesized in order to obtain products which allow further studies of the bufadienolide structure‐activity relationships.
