Objective:To study the effects of naringin and baicalin combination on the biological activity of human periodontal ligament cells(hPDLCs).Methods:hPDLCs were cultured and identified in vitro. The cells were exposed to naringin, baicalin or combination of the both at various concentrations. The proliferation,collagen-Ⅰ protein expression, alkaline phosphatase(ALP)activity and mineralization of hPDLCs were examined by MTT assay, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and Von Kossa staining. Results:Naringin at 1.0 mg/L combined with baicalin at 0.1 mg/L showed the strongest promotion effects on the proliferation,collagen-Ⅰ protein expression,ALP activity and mineralization of hPDLCs.Conclusion:Naringin and baicalin combination may play a synergistic effect in the bone formation of hPDLCs.
