Group-level cognitive performance differences are found in psychiatric disorders ranging from depression to autism to schizophrenia. Understanding the genetic underpinnings of specific cognitive abilities, and their relationships to psychiatric disorder risk, can inform the understanding of disease biology nosology and etiology.
