Alanine scanning of highly homologous regions of Ara h 2 (epitope 7) and Ara h 6 (epitope F) reveals amino acids that are critical for binding of IgE

The 82% identical regions of Ara h 2 (epitope 7; QQFKRELRNLPQQCGLR) and Ara h 6 (epitope F; QQFKRELMNLPQQCNFR) form helices in the native proteins, bind similar amounts of IgE and are thought to contribute to the formation of conformational epitopes.
