Yes Journal Acta Pharmaceutica ISSN: 1330-0075 Volume 44 Issue 2 Abstract IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP The synthesis and antifungal activities of 18 derivatives of 1- and 2-naphthol against 7 strains of opportunistic yeast of clinical significance along with the parent compounds 1-naphthol, 2-naphthol, and amphotericin B as a positive control are described. Fourteen out of the 20 compounds were found to be active against 1 or more of the fungi tested at concentrations of 0.01-0.06 mcg/ml. The best compounds inhibited 5 out of the 7 fungi tested, while both 1-naphthol and 2-naphthol inhibited 4 out of the 7 organisms tested at the same concentration range. |
