摘要
A novel method is proposed to design a wideband planar antenna printed on a single side of a thin dielectric substrate. The proposed antenna has enhanced radiation efficiency and wide frequency band of impedance matching. This antenna is a printed as crown-shaped monopole patch composed of multiple merged circular sector patch radiators. The geometry of the radiating monopole patch is described by only one length parameter and two angular parameters. For more enhancement of the bandwidth and radiation efficiency, the radiating patch is fed through a coplanar waveguide (CPW) to produce the antenna structure printed on one side of a high-quality thin dielectric substrate which effectively reduces the losses within the operational frequency band. It is shown, through simulation and measurements, that the proposed antenna can efficiently operate over the K-band (18 – 27 GHz), and Ka-band (27 – 40 GHz). The proposed antenna is fabricated and subjected to experimental validation of the simulation results. It is shown that the proposed antenna has a percentage bandwidth (%BW) of 76%, ratio bandwidth (RBW) of 2.2: 1, and bandwidth-dimension ratio (BDR) of 278.
