Chemoselective Reduction of α,β-Unsaturated Aldehydes, Ketones, Carboxylic Acids, and Esters with Nickel Boride in Methanol–Water

Abstract A facile procedure for the conjugate reduction of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, and esters is reported with nickel boride generated in situ from NiCl2·6H2O/NaBH4 in methanol–water at ambient temperature.
