Developing blue light emitting phosphors under near UV-light excitation is very important to fibrate phosphor convert white light emitting diodes (pc-WLEDs). In this work, we designed and prepared a new type of blue phosphor BaLa 2 Y 2 (SiO 4 ) 3 : x Tm 3+ and studied its structure and luminescent properties. The phosphor can generate blue emitting band at 452 nm with color purity of 99%, which was attributed to the 3 H 6 → 1 D 2 transition of Tm 3+ . Besides, this phosphor shows excellent thermal stability. The emission intensity of the BaLa 2 Y 2 (SiO 4 ) 3 doped with 0.06 mol Tm 3+ remains 93.6% intensity at 473 K of that at 298 K. These results indicate that phosphor BaLa 2 Y 2 (SiO 4 ) 3 :Tm 3+ with blue light emission and good thermostability can be used for WLED lamps.
