Combined Chemoembolization with Iodine-125 Seed Implantation for the Treatment of an Oromaxillary Carcinoma: A Case Report

A 75-year-old woman presented with a 2-month history of right-sided maxillofacial swelling and difficulty with opening the mouth and chewing. Physical examination revealed a 4-cm × 5-cm × 5-cm, dark-red, surface-eroded, bleeding right upper oral mass (Fig 1). Biopsy and pathological examination revealed poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. Computed tomography (CT) showed bone destruction and a 6.1-cm × 4.7-cm × 4.3-cm soft tissue mass in the right maxilla with moderately heterogeneous enhancement (Fig 2).
