Herein, a multicomponent electrochemical protocol for direct access to methylthiolated pyrazoles using potassium thiocyanate (KSCN) as sulfur source has been developed, where the methanol acts as both the solvent and the methylation reagent. This electrosynthesis strategy provides an eco-friendly and sustainable way to access methylthiolated pyrazoles by avoiding expensive metal catalysts and highly toxic sulfur reagent. Mechanism studies revealed that the key CH methylthiolation reaction proceeded via a radical pathway.
