Quantum Computing: Progress and Innovation

The field of quantum computers has reached the point of having real systems available for experimentation to a broad community. In this article, we review recent developments in hardware technology, outline challenges and innovations in quantum systems, and discuss efforts to cultivate and educate a quantum-ready community.
