摘要
A case of spreading skin disease due to invasion by an achloric alga is briefly described. The organisms had invaded the dermis and were identified as a new species of Prototheca, P. sebwema. This is the first proved case of a human infection due to an alga. The morphological and cultural characteristics of the organism have been described.
