The vibrational spectra of some dialkyl sulphide complexes of gold(III) and gold(I) halides

I.r. and, where possible, Raman spectra have been recorded over the range 90–400 cm−1 for a series of compounds of the type AuX3L and AuXL, where X = Cl, Br and I and L = dialkyl sulphide. The use of Raman spectra has enabled more definite v(M—X) assignments to be made for the gold(III) complexes and assignments of various other fundamental modes have been suggested.
