Two new polyphenols, 4,6-di-O-galloylarbutin and 2,4,6-tri-O-galloyl-D-glucose, were isolated from the root of Bergenia purpurascens, which also contains 6-O-galloylarbutin, bergenin and its gallates, and five other phenolic compounds. The structures of the new compounds were determined by chemical and spectroscopic methods.
