摘要
Cryogenic deformation is a promising method to improve the mechanical properties of Al-Mg-Si alloys. This paper presented a theoretical and experimental study on cryogenic rolling for mechanical properties and microstructure characterization at the early-ageing and peak-ageing stages. It was interestingly found that the hardness and yield strength of cryogenic rolled alloys decreased at the early-ageing stage, but this phenomenon did not happen in room temperature rolled alloys. Besides, multiple distributed β’ phases and few β” phase precipitated in cryogenic rolled alloys at early-ageing stage, but β phases were observed in cryogenic rolled alloys at peak-ageing stage. These were assigned to precipitation behaviors effected by special dislocations along grain boundary, the dislocation structures would promote precipitation and partly remain to strengthen alloys during ageing treatment. Based on the precipitation strength theory, a precipitation model, where parameter has been modified to suitable for cryogenic rolling, was used to explain the interaction of dislocations and precipitates in ageing treatment.
