d‐Amino Acid‐Based Metabolic Labeling Enables a Fast Antibiotic Susceptibility Test of Both Isolated Bacteria and Bronchoalveolar Lavage Fluid (Adv. Healthcare Mater. 6/2022)
Antibiotic Susceptibility Tests After a brief incubation with a fluorescent d-amino acid probe and different doses of antibiotics, the varied labeling intensities of bacterial pathogens, already isolated or still presenting in clinical samples like bronchoalveolar lavage fluid, are analyzed by flow cytometry to reflect their affected metabolic status. The bacterial susceptibilities to the drugs can then be determined accordingly with high accuracies.
