(Cell Reports 42, 113261, October 31, 2023) In the originally published version of this article, an incorrect version of Figure 2 was included. The incorrect version shows the results of T3SS2-dependent cytotoxicity in panel C, which actually correspond to the panel D description in the text. This has been fixed in the version of the figure that is now online. The correct version of Figure 2C shows the results of bacterial colonization in the small intestine. The correct version of Figure 2 is now published with the paper online and appears below. The authors regret this error. Destruction of self-derived PAMP via T3SS2 effector VopY to subvert PAMP-triggered immunity mediates Vibrio parahaemolyticus pathogenicityWu et al.Cell ReportsOctober 16, 2023In BriefWu et al. demonstrate that VopY is a T3SS2 effector of Vibrio parahaemolyticus that confers both enterotoxicity and cytotoxicity. As a phosphodiesterase capable of hydrolyzing c-di-GMP, VopY effectively suppresses STING-dependent immune responses induced by c-di-GMP, which is produced by bacteria and hijacked by the host as a signal during bacterial infection.
