Styrene butadiene rubber ( SBR ) is widely utilized in the field of vibration and noise reduction, and has shown its potertial in sound absorption under water pressure. For this study, SBR samples with 10% to 25% styrene content were prepared. The effect of styrene content in SBR on sound absorption performance under hydrostatic pressure was investigated. By characterizing the impact of hydrostatic pressure on the dynamic mechanical properties of SBR, the reasons for the subpar sound absorption performance of SBR under high hydrostatic pressure were analyzed. The results show that the sound absorption peak of SBR relocated to high frequency with increase in styrene content at atmospheric pressure. And due to the decrease of loss factor and the increase of stored energy modulus of SBR under high hydrostatic pressure, its sound absorption performance decreases under high hydrostatic pressure.
