Abstract Difluoromethyl compounds have found increasingly important applications in the fields of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals due to the unique biological properties of the CF 2 H group. The past decade has witnessed the development of an impressive array of new reagents and strategies for efficient difluoromethylation. This review aims to summarize the state‐of‐the‐art advances in difluoromethylation according to the following four categories: electrophilic difluoromethylation, nucleophilic difluoromethylation, radical difluoromethylation, and transition‐metal mediated difluoromethylation.
