Heart Failure–Related Fatigue

Heart failure (HF) is a complicated clinical syndrome that holds significant implications for adults and our overburdened health care system. HF-related fatigue is a severe and frequent symptom that reduces quality of life and functional status, causing increased dependence on others. Supportive care administered by a nurse practitioner (NP) has positive effects on HF therapy adherence through better self-management and early recognition of HF warning signs. Other benefits to NP-driven interventions are better financial performance through improved operational efficiency and reduced hospital readmissions.
