Collision broadening of the potassium resonance lines by noble gases

Measurements of the broadening and shift of the potassium resonance lines by noble gases are reported and the results are compared with both semiclassical and quantum calculations based on the Pascale and Vandeplanque potential (1974). Good agreement is found for broadening by argon, krypton and xenon but not for helium and neon.
