Frequently changing lifestyle entails more and more energy consumption. Depending blindly on conventional energy resources will severely affect future energy needs. Our nature is rich in sustainable energy resources. However, utilizing these energy sources efficiently is still unknown. Researchers are intensively working in this field to develop more and more method to unveil the unknown possibilities and techniques to convert tremendous renewable energy into useful energy. Here in this work, different renewable energy sources are listed and briefly described. Among the renewable energy sources, SUN is inevitable and the energy from Sun called solar energy is the richest among all. A device used to convert solar energy into electricity is solar cells/solar panels. Numerous types of solar cells configurations were developed by researchers around the world. Inorganic solar cells made up of chalcogenide materials are one among them. Recently introduced chalcogenide material in the field of solar cell is Copper Tin Sulfide (CTS). The possibilities and potential of CTS thin film to become an absorber layer in solar cell are evident from the structural, morphological, compositional, and optoelectronic properties of CTS material. Different methods for the deposition of CTS both physical and chemical methods, done and proven by different researchers are discussed here. Changing electrical, optical, and morphological properties of CTS thin films reveals the tunability of the 186material according to the requirement. Various solar cell devices fabricated using CTS are also discussed.
