摘要
Hazard perception is one of the few skills that has been consistently found to be associated with reduced crash involvement in drivers. It is typically defined as a driver's ability to anticipate potentially dangerous traffic situations. Hazard perception is usually measured with video-based computer tests. Such tests have been added to driver licensing schemes in a number of countries, and there is some evidence of crash reductions accompanying their introduction. Hazard perception skill has also been linked to important predictors of crashes, including driver experience, distraction, fatigue, and risk-taking, as well as some crash-related perceptual variables in older drivers, such as useful field of view and contrast sensitivity. Hazard perception skill can be improved through training for drivers of all ages, with some evidence suggesting that this could be a promising strategy for crash reduction.
