摘要
The direct association between resting heart rate (RHR) and risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and mortality has been previously reported.1 However, the dose–response pattern of this association has been properly analysed in only one study,2 and a few number of studies have considered heart rate as a time-dependent variable in a population-based sample.2,3 Therefore, the aim of this analysis was to explore the dose–response relationship of RHR, as a time-dependent variable, with cardiovascular non-fatal and fatal events, and all-cause mortality. The REGICOR (REgistre GIroní del COR; in English, Girona Heart Registry) study involves a prospective population-based cohort in Girona, a province in northeast Spain (≈700 000 inhabitants). The characteristics of the study have been detailed elsewhere.4 In summary, individuals living in the city of Girona and other cities and rural villages of Girona were randomly selected from the census and invited to participate.
