Development of Human T Lymphocytes

The thymus is the principal organ responsible for supporting the generation and maturation of T cells from hematopoietic progenitor cells arriving from the bone marrow. Thymocytes undergo a series of well-defined differentiation steps that lead to the generation of T-cell receptor bearing mature T cells.
