Indoor air quality is affected by household pollution. Household pollution is dangerous where humans carry out most of their activities at home (indoors). Some researchers previously suggested indoor air quality (IAQ) monitoring systems mostly to measure air quality in real-time. This study provides a reflection of the literature regarding indoor air quality monitoring system with automation. The aim of this study is to present a literature review to support future research initiatives on the implementation of indoor air quality monitoring systems. The result of this study is that 55 percent of the reviewed studies haven't applied an automatic system to their indoor air quality monitoring, the top two microcontrollers are on a single development board, and the top three parameters used in the previous IAQ monitoring studies aren't in line with WHO guidelines. In addition, only 25 percent of studies use the forecasting method.
