Thiabendazole as a postharvest treatment against Sclerotinia fructicola in dessert peaches

Thiabendazole, 2-(4'-thiazoly1)-benzimidazole, was tested as a postharvest dip against artificially produced infections of Sclerotinia fmttcola (Wint.) Rehm. For each of the six dessert peach varieties used, the percentage infection decreased as the thiabendazole concentration was increased, over the range 37.5 to 2400 p.p.m. Concentrations of 1200 p.p.m. and 2400 p.p.m. gave very good control of this fungus, but concentrations of 600 p.p.m. and below did not give consistent control.
