摘要
Telomerase enzymatic activity is considered a fundamental metric of cancer presence. Telomerase activity has been measured in a variety of human malignant cells, showing great promise as a biomarker for early cancer detection. The development of efficient PCR-free electrochemical biosensors and methodologies for the accurate quantification of the telomerase activity in cancer cells can lead to the future development of point-of-care diagnosis and individualized treatment tools for noninvasive routine tests. This review presents the recent advances in the electroanalytical methods of detection of telomerase activity, in terms of fabrication methodologies based on functional nanomaterials, sensing mechanisms, and detection strategies. The key performance parameters, such as the linear range and limit of detection, were discussed.
