The Effective Elastic Thickness of the Lithosphere Reveals Tectonic Process and Lithospheric Rheology of the Eurasian Basin

ABSTRACT We obtained the effective elastic thickness of the lithosphere ( Te ) in the Eurasian Basin using the fan‐shaped wavelet method. For ultraslow spreading ridges, the magmatic heat input is insufficient to form continuous quasisteady‐state magma lenses along the axis, resulting in significant variability in the rheological strength of the lithosphere. We suggested that the tectonic inheritance resulted in the different lithospheric rheology of WVZ and SMZ, consequently leading to distinct tectonic‐magmatic activities. The SMZ with less magmatic activity has a weaker lithosphere than that of the EVZ with extensive magmatism. We propose that the lithospheric rheology and thermal structure of ultraslow spreading ridge may be influenced not by the amount of magma supply but by the mode of magma emplacement.
