PERSISTENCE OF REDUCED SNOW TO PAVEMENT SHEAR STRENGTH FOR TWO AGGREGATE MATERIALS TREATED WITH CMA AND NACL. IN: CHEMICAL DEICERS AND THE ENVIRONMENT

The primary objective of this laboratory testing program was to examine the residual anti-icing effects of road salt (sodium chloride) and calcium magnesium acetate (CMA) on two aggregates commonly used in road construction. The road salt was the same as that used by the Houghton County Road Commission and the calcium magnesium acetate was the granular formulation marketed by Chevron Chemical Company under the trade name Ice-B-Gon (TM). The specific aggregates selected for examination were limestone and granite.
